Rodents

Did You Know that Rats are Smart?

Yes, rats are considered smart little (or big) guys. This is the reason why they can be a challenge to control. Rats know their environment and, therefore are aware of new surroundings such as traps and bait. Hiring a professional is critical in rodent management and prevention.

Rats Carry Deadly Diseases

Rats can hold and transmit a variety of serious diseases; not to mention their ability to bring in fleas and ticks into your home. Have you ever heard of the “Black Plague”? It was that exact plague that hit in the Middle Ages and killed millions of people. It happened from fleas that were on rats, that would bite humans. Bites, scratches, and urine are all responsible for leptospirosis, which can result in liver and kidney damage. Another disease called Lymphocytic Choriomeningitis (LCMV) is a viral infectious disease that is transmitted through the saliva and urine of rats. Some people have short and long-term effects of this disease. Another virus called Hantavirus can be transmitted to humans when they inhale airborne particles from rodent droppings, urine, or dead rodents. Rats can also cause people to have allergies. Their dander, droppings, and hair can cause people to sneeze and have other allergic reactions.

Do-it-Yourself Ineffectiveness

Because of the serious life-threatening diseases rats and mice cause, we do not recommend any do-it-yourself home traps or sprays. If you’ve seen a rodent, we advise you to contact us immediately and a certified technician will come to your home and perform a Free inspection. You will most likely need a rodent treatment plan, specific to your home.
